Caseworker thought I lied about the birth of my child

Caseworker: So Emmy Iwe noticed something fishy about your updated information for your food stamps. And you are aware that falsifying information is a federal crime right?

Me:What's wrong.

Caseworker: You stated your daughter was born May 15th yet your pay stub is from the work period May 15-28th.

Me: Yes

Caseworker: So you went back to work the same week you had your baby.

Me: 6 days to be exact. I went back 6 days after my C-section.

Caseworker: What?!

Me: Yep. My husband went back to work 8 days after a hip replacement surgery.

Caseworker: Oh my god!

Me: Bills don't stop because we do

Caseworker: Ok. Your son is added to your case. Just send a copy of his birth certificate. Don't work too hard mama. Tell your husband the same.

Edit: Legally they have to give me 8 weeks to heal. They just don't have to pay me. Same with my husband. Neither of us could afford to take that much time off without pay. I had to drive my husband to work for months because he wasn't healing very well. Luckily his job was a desk job but he was still in pain. Bills don't stop because we do.
