First time pumping advise?

Baby is only two days old almost 3 and I started pumping today and noticed that even when pumping my boobs stay hard and painful. Is there anything I can do to get that to stop??

Are you nursing baby??? Your milk most likely hasn’t came in yet or is just starting to and it’s tissue swelling.

You're likely just experiencing the swelling from engorgement. Is there a reason you're pumping so soon? Doing so on top of nursing baby can set you up for an oversupply. Ideally you should wait 6-8 weeks for your supply to regulate before pumping.

Assuming you need to pump for some medical reason when baby’s only a few days old, start by measuring your nipples to make sure you have the right flange size. If not, get the right flange size; it makes a big difference. Then lube up- not with lansinoh. I use Legendairy pumping spray. Then use the massage mode (higher frequency) in your pump to stimulate a letdown first, then switch to a lower frequency setting when the milk starts flowing.

I agree with C it gets softer couple weeks in. Also use warm compress before pumping and massage breasts it helps free the ducts and ensure no clogging. Once milk regulates you will no longer feel the fullness.

As your body learn how much baby is eating and how much you are pumping it will get better right now your body is trying to figure things out and making sure baby is getting all it needs.., you’ll learn that you’ll only feel pain or feel full when it’s time for baby to eat or when it’s time to pump… but the hot showers help a lot some of the milk will come out in the shower giving you some relief… Any time you get to full try pumping
