Should I pull my 3yo from daycare in anticipation of new baby?
So, my 3.5 yo goes to an in home daycare. It took me two years to be comfortable enough to send her and it took her a good 4 months to adjust to going. She is now at a place where she loves to go, but the process of getting through that separation anxiety was grueling and very upsetting to be honest. I am due in July with my second. She is still getting sick almost every month it seems like, sometimes just little sniffles but frequently with “decent” illnesses, the change of the seasons didn’t do anything to mitigate that last year so I don’t think it will this year either.
So, my question is-Would you pull your preschool aged child from daycare to avoid the sicknesses around newborn knowing it’s likely going to be very difficult to adjust back to going for your older child?
If you would or did pull them, for how long? Just your maternity leave? (Mine is 8 weeks) or the first 3 months or longer? Did you do any sort of hybrid option of this where you only sent them like once a week or something similar to keep the relationship there but lessen the exposure risk? Or would you just continue to send them and be careful about hand washing, kissing, etc?
Very torn on this one!
