Why does breastfeeding sometimes cause pain at the beginning and what are some ways to alleviate the pain?

It is so normal! Do not let anyone tell you differently. Your nipples have to toughen up and it takes like 2 or 3 weeks for them to feel “normal”. It’s totally worth it though so stick with it!! Make sure not to scrub your nipples or wash them with soap at first. KEEP aquaphor or nipple cream on them at all times.

Omg yes, totally normal for soreness. Lasted almost a month for me. What you want to be careful of is if the soreness seems like it’s traveling further into the breast. Could be a sign of a clog or mastitis.
