People might. Anytime someone shortens my kids names in a Convo I will continue the conversation with their full name. Some of my in-laws call me V. I hate that.

My sister’s name is Caroline and no one ever tried to shorten it to a nickname. I don’t think there are any obvious nicknames for it like there are for other names (Maddie for Madison, etc).

So I’m pretty picky about this. My son’s name is Nathan. Straight up, not Nate or anything like that. I had a neighbor who kept calling him Nate. Like, why? I’ve never introduced him that way or referred to him as Nate, and you automatically assume? I know one day he may choose to go by a nickname, but for now, it’s the full name.
I think if you establish that her name is Caroline, people close to you will respect that. We of course call our kids nicknames like Bubba or Silly, but their names are their names, if that makes sense. Best of luck mama!
