Braxton Hicks contractions: How do you differentiate them from the real deal?

Hello, mamas! Braxton Hicks contractions can be confusing, especially for first-time moms. How do you distinguish them from true labor contractions? Share your experiences and wisdom with the community!

braxtons for me are random. there is no rhythm, they come and they go. My labor contractions last time were far more steady but time inbetween also varied then as well but only by a few minutes and there was alot more pain associated with real labor contractions.

Braxton Hicks always feel like just general tightening of the uterus around the baby. Your belly will get real tight for a minute or so. Real contractions are way stronger and more like period type like cramps. I felt real contractions a lot in my hips and back too.

I didn’t know until my contractions were like 3 min apart lol.   Felt like strong gas pains/cramps.  We were watching TV and my husband was asking me a question about the show and i realized I was having trouble breathing while talking.  I felt winded with the cramps.  I texted my sister and law and she told me to call my dr asap lol.   I was also having Braxton hicks for about 3 weeks prior.

When they don't stop for hours after moving/drinking water/eating, safe to assume it is legit. They also get stronger.

Well honestly at 31 weeks with my first I went to the ER with Braxton hicks.. wasted my time at the hospital and was sent home.. lol when I went into actual labor before I got the epidural.. that pain.. that pain.. is unbearable like they are strong and most importantly consistent and hicks are not they can come and go. Normally water helps me- and even a warm shower. I can’t explain the pain exactly just know that it hurts lol
