What age did your littles hit this milestone?

At what age do toddlers start to connect things? Like realize that two items that are different are also similar? Maybe that’s just pattern recognition?

For example: earlier today we were grocery shopping and I picked up a bottle of peach flavored seltzer water and my daughter was interested so I told her what it was, she called it “P” and then the topic changed so I didn’t think much more of it. About ten minutes later we were across the store and she was playing with a box of her peach fruit snacks that we picked up for the first time today. She pointed at the peach on the package and said “ball!” so I said “that’s a peach, it does look like a ball doesn’t it?” And she got all excited and pointed back at the bottle of seltzer water and said “P!”. She totally recognized that the peach fruit snacks and the water were the same flavor even though the products look so different. It was such a proud moment for me haha

I tried to Google when this milestone is usually hit but I truly don’t even know what this is called so my search was not helpful. It’s the first time I’ve noticed her put two and two together like that and I’m just trying to figure out if that’s something she’s “on time” for. I know every kid does everything in their own time but she was diagnosed with a developmental speech delay at 18 months, she’ll be 2 next month and this past month all of a sudden her speech exploded! So now I’m never sure if these are things she’s been realizing and she can just finally tell us about or if it’s something other kids are doing at this age too.
