Without insurance our bills would have been in the $30,000s for each birth, but we paid aboout $3,000 each time due to insurance covering most of the costs.

Goodness yes. My first was over $200k because it required too many specialists to keep me and baby alive, then a long hospital stay afterwards. My insurance paid for it all so we literally paid $0. My daughter was less complicated and much cheaper, but we had different insurance so we had to pay around $1,000.

Yes. Overall it cost over $9000. Make sure you check the charges and call insurance. My epidural was. $4500 because the anesthesiologist was not in network only to find out they never are. I called my insurance and told them my hospital and OB were in network. It ended up only being $1600 but the whole deal was quite a bit more than my “max out of pocket”. I’m considering asking the hospital cash pay price this time because a friend of mine did and it was $3000 total.
