A second baby shower???

I had my first child in April of 2022. I am due in April of 2024. I have been getting mixed opinions about whether or not I should have a baby shower. Some say they are too close together or that you shouldn’t do it after the first. Others say it’s a new pendant and baby that is equally worth celebrating. Another group of people say to only have a shower if the new baby is a girl since I have a son. For the record, we bought all of the big stuff that we needed for our son. Our registry was probably small essentials like clothes, diapers, wipes, and first aid things. This will be our last baby, so I’m torn.” Please let me know what you think. Should I have a second baby shower?

100% do it. Even if you don’t need anything, it’s a fun reason to get loved ones together and celebrate. Make it a diaper party.

I had one for my boy same timeframe, two years after my first, girl. We had all the big stuff. The doc kinda told us the gender before we wanted. We wanted a gender reveal team boy diapers team girl wipes. If you have all the big things this will help a lot. 
We felt that our second also needed to be celebrated. So we did.

My kids are 3.5 years apart (a boy first, then a girl), but we decided not to have a shower. I personally think I would judge someone who has more than one full shower, but having a sprinkle to just celebrate the baby (without a registry/gifts) would be totally appropriate and welcome. Some people will probably bring gifts anyway because they enjoy it. I found that people were way more excited about my daughter than they were about my son for some reason. 
We reused all of my son’s big items (dresser, crib, glider, floor gym, bouncer, swing, car seat, stroller, etc) so all I needed to buy for my daughter were a few new toiletries, first aid items, girl clothes, girl bedding, etc.

i’m having a second baby shower, but only because my first baby was a boy and i’m having a girl in december. If it was another boy i probably would’ve had a “sprinkle” because i kept all my sons stuff!

We’re on our third, but we’re doing a sprinkle. Since we don’t need a full blown shower! Our first two are girls, this one is a boy. You could always do that! It’s a smaller get together, you could make a registry for just the small items you need, if people ask what you need. We had all the big things from our first 2, so we really only needed a new car seat (ours expired), we need a new high chair. But clothes, diapers, wipes, bath soap and lotion, all those little things, we don’t have. We aren’t putting out  our registry, but if people ask, I’ll just mention a few things.
