SCH Bleed… How long did yours last?

On Labor Day, I noticed blood when I wiped and immediately went to the emergency room. I thought I was a little over 7 weeks but they did an ultrasound and found that I was measuring 6+4. Baby had a healthy heartbeat and a subchorionic hematoma was found. By the time i was told this, my spotting had turned brown. The doctor basically told me that I could bleed with this my entire pregnancy but it won’t harm the baby, so I guess I was somewhat prepared for what was to come.

Fast forward a week later and my blood went from brown back to red and I feel like I’m consistently bleeding like a period every day… I basically spot onto a liner intermittently throughout the day and then see a heavier amount of blood on the toilet paper after I use the restroom. I’m lounging around as much as I possibly can and am drinking a ton of water but doesn’t seem to be helping. I’m reading that people bleed for weeks, but I guess I’m just wondering if your bleeding was more off and on or if it was consistent like mine? How long did it last for you and did it fade away or did it just completely stop one day?

I have no idea unfortunately how big my hematoma is because they didn’t put that information in my discharge paperwork, but I hope by the time I talk with my obgyn in a couple days that they’ll be able to pull up the ultrasound images and tell me.

I'm on pregnancy #4, and have had a SCH with my 3rd pregnancy and this one. With my first SCH it was 4cm and I bled off and on from 5weeks til about 15weeks. With this pregnancy it was 2cm and I bled from 5 weeks and so far just til 10weeks (I'm 14 wks now). I'm not sure if it's gone bc I haven't had a recent ultrasound, but my doc wasn't too worried at my last scan. With my first they were more worried I guess bc it was larger. It is scary, so try and rest like you have been. Hang in there ❤️

Oh I'm so sorry! I've also had a miscarriage, but not sure if I had an SCH with that baby or not. Praying you get your rainbow baby soon!

I actually ended up miscarrying a day or so after this post ☹️ I still have no idea if the SCH caused it or what… but I’m terrified to go through something like this again because now I’m just going to associate SCH with miscarriage. I did bleed a lot, and I was told only after I had a miscarriage that my SCH was “large”. I at least an reassured by others’ success stories that it’s possible to have both a hematoma and a healthy pregnancy, so I’m hanging onto that hope for the next time I’m lucky enough to be pregnant. Thank you for sharing your experience ♥️
