just been diagnosed with PCO :(

bekki

Hey girlies,

I’m 22 and I was told today that I have PCO. I’m quite overwhelmed by all the information I can find online, so I thought I might share my thoughts on here.

So my gynecologist told me to consider start taking contraceptives as a therapy measure, but I’m not sure if I should do it because I’m quite afraid of the down side. I have a history with ED and am afraid of gaining weight. As you know PCO often goes hand in hand with weight gain anyway, so I’m kinda freaking out about being robbed of the illusion that I can lose and gain weight like a person without PCO.

Do any of you have any experience with taking contraceptives as a PCO treatment?

Also my gynecologist suggested that I should check whether I have an insulin resistance, since my dad has diabetes and even though I don’t have it now, I might get it any time in the future. Also I’m worried about the high infertility rates.. even though I don’t want to have kids now, I would like to have some in the future.. so yeah, all in all I’m just a bit exhausted by all the ifs and buts so I’d love to hear about some experiences from you guys. <3
