I just turned 18 and not sexually active and since I was 14 I have been having weird discharge and the fishy smell and I was to embarrassed to tell my mom because she wasn't exactly a good mother she would always fat shame me and worse but I was hoping someone could tell me what it possibly could be and any recommendations on how to get rid of it?

Could be BV, very common, it’s NOT an STI, but you do need antibiotics to treat it and if your embarrassed to talk to your mom go to a local Planned parenthood, you don’t need your mom’s permission if you’re 18. But you need to see your gyno, especially with you being sexually active!

Go to your school nurse or you local free clinic. You could have reoccurring yeast infections, or another type of infection. Also maybe try using panty liners, especially whenever it’s hot outside, also be sure you are wearing 100% cotton panties, whenever I wear any other materials I smell weird. If you’re insecure about it just the nerves might make you produce more sweat which contains pheromones between ladies legs (axillary sweat glands) because when we stress we have cortisol which can release smellier sweat. Especially near your crotch area. Also just try to keep the area around your labia and upper legs clean but do not use douches or ANY scented feminine products as these can make smells worse and throw off the pH of your vagina. The vagina is a self cleaning never put any cleaning products into it! Also if you use lube during self sexual activity remember to use something water bases or coconut oil, and clean all toys with a toy safe soap or just hot water.

Sweetheart, you need to talk to your mom. No other person this earth should be having that very private conversation. But bathing everyday will help. Don’t use soaps. Will cause more adverse reactions. As a mother to almost eight. I encourage you to try to have those talks with only your mom. No one else has that permission. Period!
