membrane sweep without consent, would you change your OB at 40 weeks?

Question

I’m fuming and heartbroken. Today I went for my 40 week appointment, and my doctor asked to check my cervix, I declined because she checked me at my 39 week appointment and I had a big scare when I saw how much bloody discharge I had right after and I don’t want the risk of infection. That night I called the hospital and they said it was fine and expected after a check.
However, today when I declined she quickly said ‘nooo bloody show is fine because I did a membrane sweep to help get you more dilated’. I feel betrayed, because if she asked me I would’ve definitely said no. And the way she just casually mentions it a week after makes me feel uncomfortable with her. 
Seriously considering changing OB, even though my experience with her has been more than amazing so far. Would you?

At 40wks idk if a new dr would take you on. I wouldn’t change because of that but I would send in a complaint for doing a procedure without consent. 
A sweep though isn’t really something to be overly cautious of. Why did you not want one anyway?

You’re almost there. I would file a complaint with the medical board . Doctors are supposed to tell when they do stuff like that

I wouldn't bother changing now, but definitely make sure your birth support knows to watch her for things you do not consent to. I would be fuming too. That's an absolute breech of trust. My last birth the OB refused to deliver babies after 41.0W for his own reasons so when I was still pregnant at 40.6 he was mad and though I did consent to a sweep, he was brutal with it and wouldn't stop once he started like I asked. I went home actively bleeding and was so sore that I needed to sit on an ice pack for hours. There was no reason to be so rough considering it was my 4th baby and the first 3 were uneventful natural med free births. When I saw him again at the 6W follow-up and said I wasn't happy with how rough he was, he said it was my fault for not having a baby by that point and that he would rather I have done a c-section than a vaginal birth since I waited to 41.0.

Is there anything else that she has done to concern you? If you feel that your baby is at risk because of anything your doctor has done before this then I’d consider switching, but if the main concern is a membrane sweep then I definitely would not switch unless your gut is telling you that she’s a bad doctor and that your baby is at risk. 
I agree that she should have let you know before she did it, but membrane sweeps are pretty standard practice so I wouldn’t feel threatened or worried. It would be difficult to find a new doctor at this point, and there’s also a chance that she won’t be delivering your baby anyway if she’s not on call when you go into labor.
