Is this wrong??

My baby keeps getting their diaper off and making a mess in their crib. So during nap time I put duct tape over the Velcro parts to keep it on. My brother lost his mind and said I’m abusing my child. He said I should safety pin the clothes on first, but I worried about them getting poked with the pins…. The tape isn’t wrapped around them at all. It’s just over the front, so it’s not tight or anything. Just an extra barrier if they wake up before I’m able to get to them.

Im with you, i would worry a lot more about the pins coming loose and stabbing the baby. Have you tried having them in a one piece outfit that they cant get to their diaper? Maybe putting it on backwards so they cant get to the buttons/zipper

Other commenters are giving you good ideas, but also, there’s absolutely nothing abusive about what you’re doing. What exactly is his concern?

I don't think it's abusive to tape the Velcro, but I think there are more effective ways. I think, putting one piece￼ pajamas on backwards is the best idea. ￼

They also make diaper covers for those who are using cloth diapers. They pull on like underwear. Or you could use really small underwear depending on baby's size. Unless yours has mastered the art of pulling their pants down.

Putting a onesie on backwards! And get them with no feet on them or youll have to cut the feet off lol

Try putting pj’s on backwards so they can’t get the clothes open
