Is this wrong??

My baby keeps getting their diaper off and making a mess in their crib. So during nap time I put duct tape over the Velcro parts to keep it on. My brother lost his mind and said I’m abusing my child. He said I should safety pin the clothes on first, but I worried about them getting poked with the pins…. The tape isn’t wrapped around them at all. It’s just over the front, so it’s not tight or anything. Just an extra barrier if they wake up before I’m able to get to them.
