Anyone live in Austin Texas?

Thought and opinions about living there? Where’s a good safe area to live with toddlers? Planning on moving there…

Personally I wouldn't. Austin is a terrible place to raise a family. If possible I would suggest one of the smaller towns near it. Marble falls, Burnet, Liberty Hill, Leander, Plugerville, Georgetown, or Salado. All are better towns than Austin. Plugerville and Georgetown are both urban and close to Austin. Georgetown being a big college town. I left the Austin area after 21 years because it's so awful. There's a stupid amount of crime and drugs and it's not family friendly. We prefer the smaller towns between Ft. Hood (now Ft. Cavazos, but no one calls it that), Temple, and Waco. There are lots of small bordering towns that are really family friendly and close enough to larger cities to make it worth not living in the cities. Better schools, less drugs, smaller crime rates, and lots of kids playing in the neighborhoods. Growing up in the Austin area was horrendous and the amount of times I was held at knife point or gun point on the way home by my classmates was insane. Lots of suicide, teen pregnancy, and drugs in the school.
