upper GI for 7 month old?
my 7 month old is scheduled for an upper GI here pretty soon, i’m wondering how they do this? is it a type of ultrasound or will he be put to sleep?
he was supposedly to be getting a swallow study done when he was born because he was a preemie and was having trouble eating, he had laryngomalacia (squeaky gasping noise while eating) , for whatever reason they never did it, i’m assuming because he had almost stopped doing it and was taking his feeds when they sent us home from the NICU, but I do wish they would’ve done it.
he has been super super congested for a few weeks straight and seems to be getting worse, his ped. said it could be due to a swallowing problem, reflux or that he’s very slightly aspirating while eating.
also, he wants us to start him on solids (BLW) which is what I did with my oldest too, but I only started when he could sit up unassisted for a duration of a meal, my youngest can sit up, but definitely not for that long, should I still wait until he can? he’s 7.5 months, but 6 months adjusted.
