3.3 blood sugar levels for 3 year old.

Shannon

Without sounding rude towards NHS I need some advice.

I took my son to the GP this morning for possible scarlet fever/HFM.

He has white blisters in the root of his mouth.

A milkyish strawberry tongue.

Persistent dry/chesty cough.

Temperature on and off since Saturday. Goes away with calpol but comes back few hours later.

Not eating and NOT drinking all day today. Cries whenever he has food or a drink.

GP said- (11am) it’s just a cold. Not scarlet fever or anything serious.

Hospital said- (3pm-6:30pm) Temperature of 38.1, blood sugar levels are low 3.3, gave nurofen and temp came down to 37.3. Possibly has tonsillitis starting because his throat is red. Not inflamed. He said ‘his cough doesn’t match the symptoms of tonsillitis but I’ll treat it as that’. He was VERY hesitant to treat him with tonsillitis. He didn’t recheck my sons blood sugar levels. Despite still not eating or drinking. Didn’t acknowledge the white spots in his mouth. He said my sons tongue looks like ‘Scarlatina’ which I believe is the start of scarlet fever. But because it wasn’t red enough like a strawberry it’s not scarlet fever.

I don’t currently have a photo of his tongue as he’s asleep but I’ll insert a photo of what the doctor said it looks like;

Can somebody shed some advice for a worried mother. His temp is 38.5 currently

White spots;
