When is too early to test?

I am 5 days late for my period and I have taken 2 pregnancy test and they look negative to me. My husband and I are trying for our second and I am really regular and the only time I have ever been late is when I was pregnant with my daughter. If I am pregnant now I would be almost 5 weeks possibly based on counting back to my last period so is that too early for it to show up on a test? I have had a lot of symptoms-sore breasts, fatigue, sensitive to smells, and missing my period and others as well.
