Does it affect the baby? How was your experience with gestational diabetes?

Gestational diabetes typically goes away after birth, but women who get GD are at increased risk of developing diabetes mellitus type 2 (“regular” diabetes). Uncontrolled GD puts baby at risk of growth problems (usually too big), congenital anomalies, low blood sure after birth, and more. It’s important to follow closely with your doctor to reduce these risks.

I’m pregnant with my third & have had GD with all of them. Mine has gone away after birth every time. I’ve always been able to keep it diet-controlled & have never had any complications or effects to baby. I went into labor naturally both times at full-term with no issues & had normal healthy babies

I’ve noticed it actually goes down while I’m In labor and it literally went away after I had the baby and I went back to normal eating. It was pretty wild. I only had it with my third pregnancy and my baby came out perfectly healthy and around. The same weight as my last two, so for me aside from changing my diet and checking my blood sugar is was relatively the same as my other pregnancies and deliveries.

It typically does go away after birth and is directly related to the placenta. Goes away after birth bc your placenta is out. Does not typically affect baby besides bigger size.
I was on the verge of having GD. Dr explained it like there is a lot of grey area, not always a yes or no thing. Me and baby both totally healthy after birth.
