Cold sore help!

Hello there, I get cold sores about once a year and I recently developed one on my bottom lip and I’m caring for my son who is 4.5 months old. I’m just freaking out a little bit because of how serious HSV can become when a baby gets infected. So far he shows no signs of illness and I’ve been very cautious when it comes to kissing him since he was born (because of this very issue) and now I’ve ramped it up with frequent hand washing, hand sanitizing and absolutely no kissing. I’ve put one of the clear patches over the cold sore itself and I wear a mask while breastfeeding.

I guess I’m just looking for a little bit of hope that we can make it through this without him catching the virus. I feel like I’m covered in germs and am afraid to touch him. I miss being close to him and I think he does too which makes me feel sad. 😞 Anyone out there dealt with the same thing? Am I doing enough?
