My husband has admitted to experimenting with drugs in college but never had an addiction. He went to Arizona State University and that college is known for being a party college. My family only knows he tried drugs because my brother (WHO ALSO TRIED DRUGS) went to ASU with him. The reason they are saying they think my husband has an addiction is because over the years my husband has lost a lot of weight. It's not a rapid weight lost though. My family just doesn't see us much because we moved to Canada. My husband was friends with both my brothers in High school through college and he was always chunky. My mom used to make jokes when my husband was in high school about him eating her son's. He wasn't obese or anything. He was a little overweight but nothing the doctor was concerned about. We've been living in Canada for 7 years. So it's pretty normal that his body is gonna change from when he was a teenager and early 20's to now being 30. My mom has been showing concern since we have been down here for Christmas and asking when my husband got so skinny and am sure he isn't doing drugs. I said I'm positive he's not doing drugs. My husband has actually said the reason he was chubby as a young adult was because he was only antidepressants and wasn't taking care of himself. He would just stay home and eat trash and went through a depression when his dad died. My mom would say "Well you were still chubby as a teen." And my husband's point with that was he was just a kid who was growing. He's never been an unhealthy weight. In the last 6 years my husband is still on antidepressants but we leave the house all the time, he's not extremely depressed anymore and we do try to eat better. So now he is really skinny. Nothing scary though but my mom insists because he's lost so much weight that he's on drugs. His weight has been a topic since we've been down here and my dad has made a joke saying "Maybe he's not on drugs but possibly an anorexic school girl." And laughed. My brother's girlfriend actually ended up wanting to leave early because she was uncomfortable with how comfortable my parents are commenting on other people bodies. Me and my husband are supposed to leave Monday but he's looking for flights tonight because my family has been driving him crazy. It sucks because I never get to see my family but idk why they can't keep their comments to themselves.
