I’m trying for a Vbac , but Do doctors normally let you schedule a C-section date just in case you change your mind?

Yes! I was trying for a VBAC, but never went into labor naturally and had a back up c-section already scheduled at 40 weeks. We actually had to move my c-section sooner to 39 weeks due to the size of my baby.

Yes, they do. It’s actually a great idea to have it scheduled in advance so you have your preferred date planned and you don’t go too far past due date (chance of vaginal birth goes down and risk of stillbirth goes up after 40 weeks). Some doctors will offer induction, others won’t because of the increased risk of rupture, but you would need to ask your doctor about what your hospital is able to offer. I required some amount of augmentation with both of my VBACs.
However, if there’s not another medical reason, they won’t schedule a repeat C-section before 39 weeks. If you’re really hoping for a VBAC, I’d suggest scheduling at about 40 weeks or a couple days afterwards.  The likelihood of going into spontaneous labor before 39 weeks is pretty low.  If you’re more interested in a repeat C-section, it’s better to schedule closer to 39 weeks so you haven’t been in labor beforehand.
