Is 37 weeks considered full term ? Will a baby born at 37 weeks require NICU time or any other special treatment

39wks is full term. 37wks is early term. That is the ACOG guidelines. It does not depend on dr.

I was induced at 37 weeks with my last baby due to Cholestasis. I had the two shots to mature his lungs and he thankfully didn’t require any NICU time. Some babies do, it just depends on if they need a little extra help warming up, breathing, etc. after birth. Good luck mama 💜

It just depends. I had one child at 37 weeks and my other child at 36 weeks. Both boys were fine and didn't go to NICU. They did have extra nurses in the room just in case. I had to get a shot for both boys a few weeks before they was born to help their lungs develop.

38 weeks is classed as full term. My baby was born at exactly 38 weeks and was full term, he spent 3 days in nicu but that was because he couldn’t maintain his blood sugar (I’m type 1 diabetic) and needed oxygen but he was born by elective csec because he was a massive 10lb9oz born due to my diabetes.

It’s really depends on the baby. My son was born at 36 weeks and needed two week nicu stay. Some babies are born at 36 and go home when discharged. Even full term babies can be in the nicu.
