Car seat time limit?

Lexi • Wife💍Mama🩵 Birth Mother🤍👼🏻x3

I’ve been hearing that infants under 4 weeks old shouldn’t be in a car seat for more than 30 minutes at a time. I live about 40-45 minutes from the hospital that i’m giving birth at. Do we need to stop on the way home and take him out for a few minutes? Or is it safe to just wait until we get home?

I don’t think there’s any exact time limit this is all kinda new science. The idea is that you shouldn’t keep the baby in the car seat unnecessarily (like leaving them in there at home because they’re asleep). I don’t think you need to stop along your way home especially if you’re monitoring them and they’re not slumped down so low to obstruct their breathing.

Never heard this, we were 1.5 hours from home and didn’t stop

On our discharge the midwife said no more than 45 min journeys for the first bit and if longer then to ensure you take regular breaks so you should be ok
