Do you think people know? (Trigger warning: death mentioned.)

Question

So lately my grandfather, who will be 87 in May, has had some health issues. He is diabetic and not long ago had a pacemaker put it. He’s been having difficulty breathing lately and had fluid around his lungs. According to my mom, he told my Uncle that he is dying. My grandparents actually made an appointment at funeral home tomorrow.
I’m just curious, do you think it’s possible for someone to know they are dying or that their time is running out?

Yes it’s possible.  And many many people pre plan and pre arrange their after life services and arrangements prior to dying so that it’s all carried out to their wishes

Of course. He’s 87- it’s not unthinkable that he doesn’t have much time left. I think it’s very honorable of him to get everything squared away before he goes too.

I think it is possible. They can feel themselves getting weaker, they understand how hard they are struggling to do things that used to be simple. In your grandfathers case, he is about to be 87. Its very normal for peope in that age range to go ahead and start planning for their funeral and putting their wills and such together.

Absolutely! A lot of older people and people that are battling cancer, chronic illness, etc.. sometimes know. They can feel it. It starts with being abnormally tired, lack of appetite, etc.

At 87 with health issues it's really not much of a stretch to feel like time is running out.
