So I have 2 older sisters and all of us have kids. Our mom passed away a year ago and our dad gave our childhood home to my older sister since she had nowhere to go and she has a 4 yr old autistic daughter.

My mom was a VERY clean person. She would clean daily, be up at 6 am playing Christian music with the door open cleaning her house. She was a VERY clean person. However, my older sister is not.

I went to visit her yesterday and intended on staying a few hours so my kids could see her child, but when we drove to the house (she lives on a hill) she had bags of garbage piled up in the front yard that were torn open, she had 3 dogs outside (the dogs aren't the problem). She has trash scattered all down her hill, etc. but I overlooked it since it was the outside.

We walk on the porch and she opens the door and another dog comes out of the house that clearly has a bad case of mange (which she said it was just allergic to fleas) but we looked over that. And when we got inside the entire house smelled like dog pee, there were 2 other dogs in the house standing on a coffee table that looked like it had everything in the world on it dirt wise. In front of the door there was dog poop. The floors looked like they haven't been cleaned in months (and they're hardwood). I overlooked the toys and the dishes, but the overall condition of the house was very poor. We went on the porch to discuss staying there and my 3 year old came out after playing with a toy for 5 minutes and had dog poop on his arm which I quickly wiped off.

My youngest was eating Oreos and dropped them on the porch (normally idc because dirt doesn't hurt) but my sister said where they had landed a dead rat laid for 2 weeks before being moved.

She has rats in her house (pets), 2 cats, and allows every single outside dog she has to be in her house. I came up with a polite excuse to leave and came home and talked to my other sister hoping she'd try to talk sense into her, but instead she acted as delusional as her and said the mess didn't stop her from taking her kids up there. And my older sister was informed of how I felt and she ranted to me about how she scrubbed the floors every day and cleaned every day, etc.

She has ONE child. She is a single SAHM. She has time to clean so her kid isn't walking barefoot on a floor a dog has peed all over. Being up there made me depressed for the child as well as seeing out childhood home in that shape. It even bothered my husband.

Now I feel like the asshole for being concerned and voicing my concerns in a polite way because I'm afraid she will end up sick and so will her child. Shes having a birthday party up there the 29th and after yesterday I won't be going.

She feels like I think my kids are better than hers and that I'm better than her which isn't true. No child should have to live in that condition. No adult should want to.

What am I supposed to do?
