Service dog incident in Costco… thoughts?

Question

So I was minding my own business looking at sweaters when a toddler (not much older than 2yo) that was sitting in a cart pointed to a service dog that was standing in line with its owner and said, “mommy look! A doggy! Hi doggy!” 
The owner of the dog whipped around so fast and got in the toddlers face and yelled at her, “Don’t talk to my dog! He’s a working dog!” When I tell you the mother of this child, went off on that woman so freaking fast! “Don’t you dare come near my child, I don’t care what disability you have, I will fuck you up!” 
The two ladies continued until their respective husbands pulled them away from each other. 😆
What do you think of this situation? Who’s side would you be on?

Im with Mom! The toddler was sitting in the cart, she wouldnt have been able to actually reach the dog. The person with the dog had zero rights to get in the babies face, much less yell at her like that. They should have just politely explained what a working dog is and ASKED them not to speak to it. People like that are partly the reason why service dogs are looked down on in public, their owners dont know how to act sometimes and think just because they have a disability and/or a service dog that they can talk to people any way they want to and not have to face the consequences.

Both are in the wrong. No need to blow up at a kid like that for any reason...they don't know any better and should have just ignored it or if they were really wanting to made it a teaching moment. The mom reacting with like instant violent threats also uncalled for. Could have just havw spoken her peace without threats and left...and also made a teaching moment for her kid by telling her when things were calm about service dogs. Bitch 1 clearly started it, bitch 2 escalated it and the husband's did the right thing by removing them. I 100% would have defended my kid and protected her but there is better ways to do it, especially when your small child is watching and learning from you.

Both women sound quite awful. If some lady screamed at one of my kids I'd stand up and protect them but not going to snap like that and go straight to physical threats. My kids have sadly seen me screamed at in public for wearing my hijab and I know it would just scare them more to see  me threaten they physically. Especially when what happens if that person takea the threat and attacks me 1st. I will protect my babies but sometimes deescalation is better protection. My job as mom is to also set a good example and teach them how to human so would not want to ever have my kid think threats of violence or physical harm should ever be the 1st response.

I am more on the Mom side, however, I don't think she went about it the correct way. Threatening harm to someone is illegal in some places and I just would not risk that in front of my child. Nor would I want to teach my child that this is how we handle things because I wouldn't want her to get in trouble thinking it's OK to threaten people when she's older. I would definitely stand up for my child and let the woman know that she is wrong for the way she treated a two-year-old though. You can do that without threatening harm. ￼

This is probably because all the service dog accounts on insta and tik glamorize correcting the public’s behavior towards working dogs. Pointing and talkign about the dog is not harmful one bit and a great teaching moment. The dog handler wanted attention

Definitely on mom's side, though if I was in that situation I don't think I'd jump right to telling the person I'd kick their ass like a lot of other people said 😳 but also, I'm sure none of us who are saying this have been put in this type of situation so it's hard to tell because once that mama bear instinct kicks in it can be hard to control.
