Is a man having a fear really that emasculating?

My boyfriend is severely allergic to bees, but not wasps. He just had a bad phobia of both. My boyfriend was trying to go out the back door but there was a wasp nest and he almost passed out. He refused to use the back door and messaged me while I was with my parents about it so I knew I was gonna have to handle a wasp nest when I got back home. My family was saying how they didn't understand why he can't do it since he's the man and he's only allergic to bees. They just kept saying how it's emasculating to have your girlfriend handle something like that when he's the man and he's supposed to be my protector. Honestly I grew up getting stung by bees and wasp and they don't scare me. If it's too bad for the spray I have I'll just call an exterminator. I don't care all that much but my family keeps trying to convince me something is wrong.
