If your child is over three, do they fight you to get dressed in the morning?

If your child used to when does it stop? My daughter is 4 and fights me to get dressed in the morning and has since she was 3. It got better there for a little while then all the sudden came back. I’m thinking it has to do with her allergies. She has really bad allergies at certain times of the year and it makes her irritable but I don’t know. Please just tell me I’m not the only one because momma is struggling over here.

Have you tried giving her a choice? Any form of control? My 2 and 3 year olds always get excited to get dressed if they get to choose. If they don't it can be a fight. I pick out 2 options for each if what they're wearing is important. If it's not I show them the section of weather apporoptiate clothes whey can choose from.

My 3yo takes foreverrrrrr, but she doesn't usually fight me. But, she has full access to all her clothes and dresses herself. I only intervene if she needs a coat to go outside or she needs nicer clothes to go somewhere.

My son is 8. To prevent arguments we lay out 3 choices at night and 3 pairs of shoes that match. By allowing children to participate in choosing what they wear, they feel more independent/control over themselves.

Our 3.5 yr old is such a sloth when it comes to getting dressed. Our almost 6 year old is a champ, but he didn’t used to be! He’s matured a lot when it comes to self care this year.
