Hey guys- our little sweetie is already 8 days old. We have seen a lactation consultant and she told us our babe has a tight jaw/ needs physio because she can’t latch easily/ properly. This has made it so that she screams and cries for 10-15 mins straight while I try to latch her to the breast. Because of this two days ago I was advised to start pumping and give her bottles to entice her to eat then try to get her to latch. It’s been easiest and she’s been the happiest/ most content if she’s fully bottle fed. She latched but then doesn’t suck long enough to get enough to eat. My problem is she seems to be eating 2-3 oz at feeds, and sometimes when I pump I only get 1.5 oz total. And I’m pumping every two hours. I’ve only got 6 oz in the fridge ahead of the current feed we’re on. So I’ve had to buy formula because I’m scared I can’t keep up with her demands. Is anyone else in a similar spot? I’m feeling a bit like a failure right now, because I wanted to breastfeed strictly this time and thought it’d come easier for my second baby. But it seems I’ll have supply issues again and an additional hurdle of latch problems 😐
