Am I wrong for reporting this nurse
I made a complaint about a nurse and demanded I have a different one. I was in the ER with my son(14) because he had a suicide attempt. The nurse was rude from the get go and I understand they were overstaffed but I just feel like what was said was completely uncalled for. She was outside our room but we could hear her because she was loud. Another nurse told her she had another patient and this was another suicide attempt and she said super loud "Oh my God! Could these people either try to kill themselves better or find a different way to get attention." I was disgusted. Demanded a different nurse. My child who is 14 shouldn't be hearing a nurse basically say he should have done a better job at trying to kill himself and I reported it. My sister was actually angry at ME when she found out I complained. She said I don't know what it's like to be a nurse a they are extremely understaffed. My sister is a nurse. She said that nurse is human and I may have just cost her her job. I understand being overworked but I don't think you shouldn't have any consequences for your actions.
@Kuchi first of all I could barely understand your post because the grammar is so bad. Second of all "We hear what we want to hear." Why would I, a mother of a child who just tried to kill himself want to hear a NURSE say how people need to do a better job. Also I DID hear the whole conversation. They were right outside our room. Please explain in what situation would it be okay for a nurse to say that? Also saying how karma is gonna get me after my son just tried to take his life is very gross. No I'm not gonna pull the nurse to the side to talk to her. I got my own issues I have to worry about. Thank you.
@Xenon you're a pretty disgusting human being to agree with that nurse and to think my child should have done better at killing himself. As for the attention seeking. He told nobody his plan and tried to do it in his sister's house. She's out of town and paid him to take care of her birds. He went somewhere he thought nobody would find him. The ONLY reason someone did is because she didn't know her husband already asked the neighbor to take care of the birds. He's been through a lot the last 4 months. Things no child should go through. But I can't expect someone as ignorant or basic psychology and mental health to understand what it's like to genuinely not want to live anymore and I hope you don't work around vulnerable people. I hope you don't have children or someone in your life who is struggling because you genuinely sound like the worst person to be around when you're in a mental health crisis.
