Is my newborn gaining excessive weight?

Question

I know it sounds crazy... But My 2 month old baby has doubled birth weight already. 
Doctor told me to feed only on demand. Baby is exclusively breast fed. I feed the baby when he cries at night. in spite of weight gain, Baby still sleeps for 2 hours at a stretch, not beyond that. 
Is this normal? I am worried about baby not sleeping longer stretches and the excessive weight gain. Any inputs would be appreciated.

Doubling birth weight at 2m is normal. Keep feeding on demand

Super normal! My guy almost doubled in weight by his two month appointment. 8lbs to just shy of 15lbs. 
As far as sleeping, I’d revisit your nighttime routine. My, now three month old, can zonk out peacefully from 10:00 to 7:00 and often fall back asleep for another hour or two. At two months old, he frequently slept from 10:00 to 5:00. Remember, all babies are different!

The average weight for a 2 month old boy is 12.5 lbs. it’s not uncommon for a baby to be twice their birth weight at 2 months
