C-section? Baby face down

I just left my 38 week appt and my baby is head down… but face first. The doctor is concerned that she won’t be able to get out of that position and that a C-section might be the safest way to deliver. They didn’t think I needed to go a head and schedule a c section (already scheduled for a 39 week induction) but want me to come in at the first signs of labor vs laboring at home for a few hours so they can check and make sure she’s in a good position before letting me continue. I’m fine with whatever the doctors decide, but I like to be prepared. Anyone else experience this?

This is face first (brow presentation). It’s different than face up. I think some of the comments are getting the two confused.

I’m not a OB doctor, but many babies have been delivered vaginally face up. I’m surprised that because of that they would go right to recommending a c section.

I had facial presentation at 36 weeks and opted for C-Section. I mainly did that because I also had dangerously low fluid, and baby needed out. My OB said I maybe could have induced and delivered, but it would take a lot longer than normal and I didn’t have time to wait. If I didn’t have low fluid, I think I may have given vaginal birth a go. Baby will sometimes move a little in labor and maybe get into a better position. Don’t feel guilty either way though. You go with your gut and choose what makes you feel most comfortable🫶

My second was face up, I labored a long time and wasn't progressing. My OB gave me the option because I was in so much pain. I tried pushing a while longer and went with a C-section. I went into labor so confident as my first was born vaginally and was 11lb 2 oz & 23" long. It is not necessary to have a C-section for it. My son did have some markings on his face when he came out and they said it was from me pushing and it would go away, it did. Best wishes to you 🩷

My daughter was born this way. It also surprises me that they’d offer a c section.

I think drs try to push c sections too much for a necessary reasons. Im pretty sure I was born that way and my nieces were as well. It may cause you more pain if you don’t choose the epidural and baby might have some bruising on her face but I don’t think this is a reason for a C-section . Like other comments have mentioned , many babies have been born that way vaginally  .
