Is this exploitative?
I've been doing this podcast with my friend for a while and we've recently finally started making money through the podcast. For a while we made either nothing or VERY little. My friend has a topic that she wants to talk about because she feels like it will get a lot of views. We went to this private school together years ago that ended up getting shut down. Our principal was arrested for SA one of the students. They completely kept which student it was private but everyone suspected it was a boy we went to school with because he left school right after. Nothing was ever confirmed. We got a new principal but the school shut down after one year.
My friend wants to talk about it on the podcast. I was okay with that since everything is public record except the identity of the kid but she says she has the identity of the kid it was and that our assumptions were right. She got it from the family member of the guy we went to school with.
I don't mind talking about what's already public but me and her are disagreeing on revealing the identity. I think it's exploitive. She said it's part of the story and it will make listeners feel more engaged. I don't want to exploit such a personal situation but my friend sees things differently than I do.
