How is pregnancy calculated?

My boyfriend was in jail for about 2 months. He got out Dec 4th & I found out I was pregnant Dec 15th. It was a super super faint line. I felt like that was so soon. But I also know for a fact I didn’t sleep with anyone else. Just curious how it’s calculated cause I went to the emergency room 2 days later for cramping and spotting they told me my hcg levels were consistent with being a week pregnant. We’re due August 26th with a little boy 😌

I mean if you were ovulating around the time he got out and you guys were active right away the timing would make sense.  You can test positive with a light line like that 10-14 days after ovulation.  Congratulations!

You start counting from the 1st day of your last period so by the time you can actually test positive you'd be 3-4 weeks along, not 1. That timing does make sense though

Subtract 3 months from your last period and then add a week to get your month and day EDD is the non specific calculation. Once you’re further along (usually around 6-8 weeks) they can do an ultrasound and do a specific calculation from that to give you a more specific due date.

I conceived my middle child Christmas Eve and was due September 15th. I found out January 8th. It’s definitely possible to find out pretty early. You calculate based off the first day of your period or if you know when you ovulated
