Do I say something when my husband makes a third plate for his son

We lost my step son now 2 weeks ago and recently had the funeral. There's something my husband keeps doing and I don't know if I should stop him or just let him. He keeps, in routine, when he cooks, making a 3rd plate for his son. And when I remind him he's made a 3rd plate he just breaks down crying when he realizes. I don't know if I'm doing more harm by bringing attention to it and if I should just leave it be....
