Luck with progesterone suppositories?
Long story short, my body stops recognizing progesterone by my third trimester (31-32 weeks…ish) and to stop that from happening, my second pregnancy, I was on Makena. Makena worked great for me and kept me pregnant until the shot wore off at 37 weeks so I delivered early term.
Fast forward 9 1/2 years, Makena is taken off the market because they don’t feel there was enough to prove it was effective. My only option apparently is progesterone suppositories - starting now or at our anatomy scan to verify if I have a shortened cervix. If I don’t have one, she said after then, she wouldn’t prescribe the progesterone but if I start to take them now, I could continue on the regimen but it doesn’t guarantee term labor.
Has anyone taken this and have a positive outcome? Or is it even worth taking? With her saying it’s not a guarantee, while I won’t risk preterm, I just need to know that it has worked on women who don’t have shortened cervixes (which I know I don’t). I really don’t want to deliver another preterm baby and have him in the NICU for weeks like our first.
