Educators if you don’t get your paid planning time are you doing it?
I work at a child care centre. We run a very progressive program. I’m talking educations must keep a journal and reflections, 20 hours of PD a year (no PD days or paid time), must document each child’s learning in a portfolio, documentation panels on the walls, minima of 3 activities per day, daily photos and emails sent home, and of course daily logs for eating, sleeping, toileting ect… each class is meant to get 1 hour per week for planning (this includes documenting and portfolios) I have had maybe 2hrs planning in 3 months and I’ve just stopped doing the planning and documentation. Obviously now in I’m shit be and have a meeting with management next week. How do I tell them respectfully that I’m not doing all that extra work without time during the work day? I feel like this is standard ya? No prep no programming or journals?? Am I the problem?
