Retainers and braces help! Do you still wear your retainer?

I’m 25 and noticed shifting in my top teeth so I saw a two orthodontist and they said I have 50% deep bite and so shifting. Not an emergency but need to do something to prevent further damage. However I have MANY medical conditions and disease and I don’t think my body can handle braces let alone a retainer. The thought of wearing one every night for the rest of my life gives me SEVERE anxiety.

One I have mental health issues and autism so sensory issues (they are really bad with sleep)

Two I have severe migraines, gastroparesis, gerd, malnutrition, immune system disorders, allergies, and chronic fatigue syndrome. Some days I don’t even eat due to my symptoms so I can’t imagine being responsible for the retainer routine every single day.

Three I did invaslign in the past and only lasted a week before quitting because of sensory overload and medical problems. It gave me oral thrush and I couldn’t sleep with. The routine of it also triggered my ocd anxiety.

How do you know which “poison” to pick from? Take the risk of my teeth getting worse or suffer with retainer for life. Also Take the risk of things getting worse if I stop the retainer. Everyone I know who got braces as a kid (except two people) stoped wearing their retainers and they don’t even have the issues I have. Any advice?
