Did you ever lie to get a day off from work?

Have you ever lied to your boss to call off ? What was your lie and what did you actually do that day?

I just said I was sick. Mental health days are sick days in my opinion.

No. I just say I need to use a PTO day.

One of our close friends had to call in "sick" to be in our wedding. He was in law enforcement and his boss was invited to our wedding as a family friend. They all laughed it off but it could have been really bad.

No. I am a high school teacher/college professor. We get many personal days and sick days. We don’t need to lie; we just put in for a sub and ensure that we have sub lesson plans for the day.

When I was younger and the time was unpaid and they would guilt trip me and it wasn’t my job to find coverage, sure. Now I just make sure the people who need to know, know, set my schedule appropriately to make sure my projects are covered, and take a personal/sick/vacation day depending on what I need.

I don’t need to lie. I have personal days I can use as I see fit and what I’m doing isn’t the business of my employer. I also have medical days I can use for physical and emotional health. Also, not the business of my employer. But I’m careful to make sure no one is left in a lurch or hindered by my absence. I have never used all of my allowed days.

I said my daycare closed and I had to pick up my kids… I went out of town for a concert.

Yeah once. I’d never been to our local show/fair and so my husband encouraged me to take the day off and go.
