Both are family names, considering Gene as a nickname for Genesis. Last name Starts with A

Maybe I’m in the minority, but I’ve only heard of Genesis as a girls name.

If it’s a long last name, I would go with Gene. If it’s a 1-2 syllable last name, I personally like Genesis more (but I’m not sure it’s everyone’s cup of tea).
