Update on my 2yo with rsv
Today is day 7 in picu!
He developed pneumonia which was caught early. Thankfully. He started antibiotics which didn’t make him feel better until over 24hrs later.
He is still not 100%. He’s maybe 75-80% better. He is eating and drinking. He’s showing more personality. He’s really really grumpy about still being in the hospital. He refuses to talk to his nurses.
My husband has stayed with him this entire time. I was too sick when he first was admitted. Then we decided to keep things consistent so I continued to stay with our 3 year old (who also has rsv) at home. I haven’t seen my boys for more than a few minutes in the last week. It’s been so hard.
Bright side! He should be coming home tonight! He just has to come home on oxygen which is totally fine!
My 3 year old is feeling better and just has the lingering cough. I still have a lingering cough and stuffy ears.
**my 2 year old was born at 27 weeks. He came home on oxygen after 4m in the nicu. His lungs aren’t the best so it’s no surprise rsv took him out so bad.
***all the picu rooms were full and 90% of them were rsv cases.

What his Lola got for him to come home to! It truly does take a village in times like this! I’m so grateful to have a FANTASTIC partner and my parents very close by.

Wash your hands! Stay home when sick! Rsv typically appears like a cold in adults (this season was tough on adults too) so wear a mask if you go somewhere even if you think “it’s just a cold”. Obviously we can’t avoid everything but we can do some prevention.
This year rsv, flu, and norovirus have been horrendous! Stay healthy everyone!
