Worried

Im 16 weeks and I have a Doppler… I’m also plus size… but I tried everywhere all down low and couldn’t find any heart beat… I thought I had found something but it sounds more like my uterus (swooshing thumping) then a heart beat…. I’m so worried… I’ve been having slight cramping especially when I turn or something.. I go next week for my 16week appointment so I’m trying to wait but I’m so worried… and I know if I call my OB and tell them I’ve been using my Doppler and couldn’t hear it they would advise me not to do so… I’m not sure what to do
