Has any experienced bleeding after a pap smear?

Im 12 weeks pregnant and just had a pap smear done this morning about 7 hours ago. I had some minor cramping to be expecting but 30 minutesago i felt a gosh of fluid and noticed i was bleeding kinda heavy but no longer cramping. Is that normal?                       Update: im now 14 weeks pregnant and everything is fine. Went to ER like everyone suggested and they couldnt find anything wrong with the placenta so believe it was either irritation with the cervix due to pap smear or had a type of blood clot that burst but then emptied and didnt affect baby. Took a few days to completely stop spotting but now ive started spotting brown blood again so not sure if its the same thing or more irritation with my cervix. Ive had some cramping as well but feels more like my uterus streatching so idk.

Totally normal. Changes in the cervical tissue can lead to bleeding after a pap. My OB warned me about this and I had some spotting/light bleeding for a few days to a week after but it’ll get better with some time. Even a gush of blood is normal too :)

Some bleeding and spotting is super common after a Pap smear, especially in pregnancy. If you’ve had heavy bleeding, but it’s resolved, I’d call your OB. I wouldn’t go to the ED unless there’s continued heavy bleeding or significant pain/cramping.

Has it stopped? I know I was told some bleeding was normal after Pap smear especially since the increased blood flow & sensitive cervix.. being 12 weeks I’d still be a bit nervous & call doctor tomorrow or if you have a lot of anxiety go to the ER
