My sister, mom and I are all in a group chat together. My sister asked last week what are Mother’s Day plans? I responded, that I want know what my husband have planned until day of. My mom said she didn’t have any plans. So I messaged my mom separately and asked if she wanted to do breakfast or lunch on Saturday and she agreed and would think of a place to go. She told me a place and I sent her the address to meet there and this is when things started getting odd. She then said let’s do lunch so that my 2 year old could get her sleep. I told her my kid is an early bird and if she wanted to do lunch just lmk. This conversation was early during the week. Today is Friday and I still haven’t heard any update from her.

The reason I started taking my mom alone is because when I would take her places on her birthday or any special occasion me and my husband would end up paying for my stepdad, my sister and her daughter’s tab. I told my mom we’re no longer paying for anyone we did not invite because they are all grown ups for 1 and you can’t just assume we’re always paying your tab. Which brings up the next conversation….

My mom mentioned earlier in the week that my niece asked what is she doing for Mother’s Day and my mom told her that I’m taking her out Saturday and my niece was like “ook”. So idk if my mom doesn’t have the money to cover them if they want to join so she thinks it’s best to just kindly decline my offer which is shitty imo 🤷‍♀️ I’m not a bank. I have a family. And my sister, step dad or niece never pay for my family when we join them for outings because we DON’T expect them too…

So Saturday my husband is going to his mom’s and we’re just going there..

For the comments telling me to “text her and see if we’re still on or stop assuming” first off, she obviously doesn’t want to accept my offer as we’ve been texting throughout the day and she hasn’t mentioned it. For two, I’m not assuming anything, I offered and she started coming up with reasons she no longer wants to go BUT has not came out to say “no or not interested”. But whatever, I needed to vent and everyone is entitled to their own 2 cents…
