Going by middle name

Were any of you given both a first name and a middle name but your parents intended on calling you by your middle name? What challenges did you fac? (school, travelling, with IDs, legal documents etc)

We have a name in mind that we want our kid to go by and we’ve held onto it for over a year. We want them to have a middle name too. But the name flows wayyyy better having the middle name as a first name so we’re considering just having the primary name we like as a middle name and calling them that in day to day life. Bad idea?
