Hi all! I thought my experience might be helpful, and possibly hopeful, to someone. I had my IUD since I was in college and had it exchanged once. My first few months (like 7-8 months) with Mirena were rough at times, I had on and off spotting and cramping. Luckily, those symptoms resolved and since then I have had 0 periods for 8 years. When my husband and I decided we wanted to TTC, I was worried about my fertility. I know that the effect of Mirena is supposed to be reversible immediately, but given that I essentially hadn’t had a period in 8 years I was skeptical and just overall anxious about it.

For reference, prior to getting Mirena, I had extremely irregular periods with cycles lasting anywhere from 25-65 days.

I had my IUD removed a couple months ago, and given that I had no idea where I was at in my cycles or what was going on, I started using OPKs. It took me over a month, almost 6 weeks to have an LH spike. I was so fortunate but we were able to try at that time and I got my BFP only 11 days later. So for me, I didn’t even have a period or withdrawal bleed before becoming pregnant.

It’s still early but my betas are on track and rising as expected so hopefully this little one sticks!
