Induction

Today at my 36 weeks appointment the doctor said I’m getting induced in the next 2-3 weeks unless I go into labor before then. I have absolutely no idea what to expect and I’m scared. I really don’t want to have a c section. Can I hear everyone’s induction stories and tips?

But I will add that My first was absolutely wonderful. It was 39 hours long, but it’s wasn’t grueling pain for that long. We had fun, relaxed, and just had a good ol’ time. The more intense pain wasn’t until the very very end and even then it was manageable. I only pushed for about 15 minutes.

I’ve had 2 inductions , neither ended in a c-section. My first was at 39 weeks, it was fairly fast & easy. Went in at 8 am to get induced, baby was delivered by 8 am the next morning. I was not dilated prior to getting induced. My second induction was at 38 weeks, it took longer to get labor started. I went in on a Monday evening - probably around 6 pm & baby didn’t come until Wednesday around 11 am. It was just long. Baby wasn’t ready to come. The most annoying part of that induction was their attempts to get me dilated. I had to get cervadil & then when that failed they tried to use the seaweed sticks & when that failed they just upped the pitocin & broke my water - which finally got labor going. Neither induction was awful or traumatic. I delivered vaginally both times.. the first time it took me about 5 mins to push him out & the second time it took me 3. My advice is to walk as much as you can before getting the epidural.. it really helps move things along. Also try to remain positive. A lot of women have different experiences with induction, but prior to what you’ll hear - most inductions do NOT end in a c-section. I actually didn’t have any fear at all with my first induction, I was 18 & I didn’t even know the risks or horror stories & it made things a lot more pleasant for me. I had more knowledge w my second so I was a little more fearful, but I was going off of other people’s bad experiences - notmy own. Don’t let the fear get into your head! A pleasant labor has a lot to do w mentality

My first induction was horrible, they were rushing me and ended up injuring me and my son. I was just induced four days ago and they basically left me alone until it was time to push which was amazing. Also my delivery doctor was super nice and was actually there longer than just to catch the baby and leave. I’d say definitely be pushy and don’t be afraid to tell them to back off if you’re uncomfortable. I only got my dilation checked three times this time as opposed to literally every 15 minutes with my son. Just try and relax as much as you can and focus on the end goal of getting to hold your baby. Good luck mama!

I was induced and had a successful induction and vaginal birth with my first. It takes a while. Don’t rush it. Don’t let them turn up the pitocin too fast. Bumping up sooner than every hour can lead to a c-section. Also breaking water too soon can lead to a c-section. The timer starts as soon as they break it and often times, it doesn’t do a whole lot extra to speed up labor. The early rupture of my membranes with my second was what led to my emergency c-section with my first. We both almost didn’t make it. The biggest three things I can tell you is to educate yourself on all possibilities, be open to change because labor is unpredictable, and remember that you are the driver in your birth, not the passenger. You make the final decisions, not other people. ❤️

Are you sure you want to hear everyone induction stories. Mine is horrific alone.. hearing like ten peoples awful stories is going to scare you, I’d consider if you really want to hear them. I’m happy to share but maybe you ought to change it to positive stories
