Which job would you take?

Both are daycare jobs
Job 1: $12.75/hr, new building, very clean, tons of toys and supplies, rebuilding staff after a ton of drama with previous staff and director, low google ratings on staff, 25 minute drive, really good structure and program plan for each classroom 
Job 2: $14/hr, old building, run down, not very clean, in a "poorer" neighborhood and lacking toys and supplies, friendly staff, high google ratings on all the staff, 5 minute drive, needs a lot of help building structure and programs in the classroom which I believe I can help with

Job 2, You're wasting less gas going to it. And maybe run down and everything but there's clearly enough potential there and people like going there. The first job there's way too many red flags that clearly there's problems with the way it is.

Option 2 seems better. Might be older, but better reviews AND better pay AND closer!

It’s possible the reviews are high because it’s a good option in that area but would be scored low in the area the other is located. I like that there is an overhaul happening in the other place and professionally I’d want to work in a more professional environment where procedures are established to help with liability issues. If the second place is open to changing how they operate and are working to better itself, then I’d be willing to go that way.

But just to put it here, I used to get payed better as a nanny! I only left them because I had my own baby but they were so awesome I could’ve stayed there forever. I would try to find a nanny job down the line!

Having a new building and lots of toys can’t make up for lack of quality people. It’s more about the relationships than shiny new stuff. Plus with a good rating and higher pay, obviously that employer invests in his or her employees. All you know about the other daycare companies is that the employer invests in the building and the stuff in the building. If I had to choose between the two for my kid, I’d choose the run down one with good quality people. It’s all about the people!
