I don’t know what advice to give
A friend and I were talking yesterday. She was telling me how the other day her 3.5 year “discovered” herself. She said that they were playing, her daughter put her hand in her face and it smelled funny. Come to find out her daughter had, I guess, been putting her hand between her legs. I don’t if to itch or feel or what. She didn’t get graphic. Well she asked her daughter about it and told her that if she was going to do that then she needed to be in her room to do it. So they washed her hands and she send her to her room. She doesn’t know how to handle this.
I have no idea what advice to give because I know kids get curious but 3.5? Also, I have a daughter too and I would shame her but at such a young age I would be sending her to her room alone to do whatever it was she was doing. I think I would just try to explain to her that girls have their own special area and go from there? Is it weird that I think her daughter is too young to be, I don’t know, exploring? I don’t remember do that as a child? Not shamming or anything. I just don’t know how to help her with any advice.
To clarify: she didn’t send her to her room right after. She said that if she was to do it she would have to do it in her room. I think she was trying to explain to a 3 year old.
